This was my first time using Clip Studio Paint, and I was turned on to it's wonderful posing and perspective tools!

The commissioner asked for their and their SO's characters from FFXIV in a beach setting.

I'm a big lineart person. A bit nervous about lineing the background elements rather than relying on just color -- maybe it looks too busy?

Because I don't usually deal with complex backgrounds, I tried doing a grayscale sketch to map out values and see if the painting reads well. I don't think I succeeded in composing the values too well, but I don't usually do this step and it was really useful!

Flat Color

Just blocking in local colors.

I flipped back and forth between my grayscale sketch and the artwork while shading and it helped a lot! There was a lot less hemming and hawing about what should go where, since I had planned it out already.
