Protocol Title: Designing creativity support tools for process rather than outcome
DESCRIPTION: You are invited to participate in a research study on the effect of artists sharing their process on their perceptions of themselves and the work they create. The purpose of this study is to evaluate techniques for when and how to ask artists to share artwork during the creative process. You will be asked to use our online platform to create and share at least one artwork during the study period. You will be surveyed about the process you used to create your artwork, and may be selected for an additional interview. Your activity on the online platform will be logged and analyzed by the research team. Because this platform is publically available, certain social activities (such as comments) will be visible to others.
TIME INVOLVEMENT: The time involvement for participating in this study is approximately 1 - 3 hours per week over about 3 weeks.
RISKS AND BENEFITS: There are no foreseeable risks associated with this study. The work you do will allow us to gain insight into how we can design better creativity support tools for artists. We cannot and do not guarantee or promise that you will receive any benefits from this study.
PAYMENTS: Participants will not be reimbursed.
PARTICIPANT’S RIGHTS: If you have read this form and have decided to participate in this project, please understand your participation is voluntary and you have the right to withdraw your consent or discontinue participation at any time without penalty or loss of benefits to which you are otherwise entitled. The alternative is not to participate. You have the right to refuse to answer particular questions. The results of this research study may be presented at scientific or professional meetings or published in scientific journals. Any mention of participants will be anonymized for the sake of privacy.
